Worldwide Holdings has grown from a small private limited company into a nationally renowned organization. From various stakes in various industries throughout the years into focusing onto four today, Worldwide Holdings today is a leader in property and environmental management services.

Introduction

About

Initially known as Tholec Limited, a private limited company in the plantation business formed in 1965, it was converted into a public company in 1967 and was listed in the Malaysia and Singapore Stock Exchange. In 1971, it became known as Worldwide Holdings Berhad.

In 1989 Worldwide Holdings Berhad took a restructuring exercise with a relisting on the Bursa Malaysia Securities. Having injected assets from three companies under the Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor (Holiday Inn Centre, Perangsang Tin Consolidated and Perangsang Rio Tinto) into Worldwide Holdings, the company is now under the wings of Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor.

Since then, Worldwide Holdings has been involved in diverse industries such as property development and investment, timber trading, infrastructure development, television news broadcasting, solid waste management, overseas investment and investment holding. A consolidation exercise during the Asian financial crisis enabled Worldwide to diverse its infrastructure projects as well as its non-performing assets and investments.

In 2008, Worldwide Holdings Berhad was privatized and was officially delisted from Bursa Malaysia and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor.

Today, Worldwide Holdings Berhad focuses on five main businesses: property, environmental management services, medical device manufacturing, energy, and project management and green technology.

Our property development business does not only help people own their homes, but we develop townships for sustainable community development, build commercial areas which indirectly boosts the nation’s economy as well as build high rise office buildings that map to its values to global and corporate companies.

Our environmental management services are enabling the country to realize a cleaner and healthier environment for all. We are building and maintaining engineered sanitary landfills to treat million tonnes of waste with the latest technologies, to leave a better tomorrow for our children. Worldwide Holdings is the local pioneer in engineered sanitary landfill, conversion of landfill into recreational park and Landfill Gas (LFG) Plant.

In the medical device manufacturing business, Worldwide Holdings is the local pioneer producing a range of absorbable and non-absorbable sutures for various surgical procedures. We collaborate with universities and hospitals in the fields of research, education and training related to the medical devices.

Our investment holding business seeks out high value portfolios both locally and abroad and continues to find opportunities in areas such as renewable power, power generation and property investment. Through strategic partnership and joint ventures with globally renowned entities, we continue to find the best potential opportunities to invest in.

In line with our business growth strategy, Worldwide Holdings has recently ventured into two new sectors, namely Energy, which sees its diversification from an investor in the first-generation independent power plant to active participation in multiple energy-related businesses; and Project Management and Green Technology (Protech), which focuses on project management consultancy in line with its commitment to delivering a cleaner and healthier environment to all.
